This website is under construction. The author had an attack of enthusiasm in or about January 2013 and this website will take about a month to complete. Really don't pay any attention to what's inside till the site is updated and reviewed. This is because some of the material may be out of date. The website author and designer is Dale who can be contacted on dalemills (at) cantab.net

Disclaimer: This website is written about the rights of activists in Sydney (Australia) by an activist who happens to have qualified as a lawyer and is doing a research degree in the policing of political demonstrations. The law referred to in this website only refers to NSW. This is because much of the law relating to protests is State-based and the law in Victoria (for example) might be very different. Go to Further Resources (and for those not from Sydney) for similar websites in other Australian States, Territories, and other countries. The reference to 'other countries' is mainly constrained by the author's monolingualism, as well as to the similarity of the legal systems between Australia, New Zealand, the USA, Canada, Ireland and most of the United Kingdom.
Future changes: as the law (and the policing of protests) continually changes, each web page has a date on which it was written. This means that the older the date on which the page was written, the more likely that page will be out of date - both as to the law and also to the practice of how protests are policed.
Legal advice blah blah blah: all websites like this will say something like "this website is for information purposes only and is not meant to be taken as legal advice." This is really important, as the law is always changing, and there is nothing better than sitting down with a lawyer in an office for an hour or two who can take careful and thoughtful notes and who can give legal advice.
